Jaylen Brown showed his appreciation for the 169 journalists who voted him into this year’s All-NBA team by sending thank you letters to each of them.

The Celtics star was named in the second All-NBA team – a list of the league’s top players as voted for by a panel of sportswriters and broadcasters – alongside the likes of Nikola Jokic and Stephen Curry back in May.

Yet not only was he honored as a leading player, his inclusion in that team also made him eligible for a supermax extension with Boston, who handed him a five-year, $304million contract last month – the richest in history.

As a result, Brown felt obliged to reach out to all 169 reporters who voted for Liverpool Fotbollströja him given the huge windfall he has earned on the back of it.

Denver Post journalist Mike Singer of the classy touch from Brown, who sent the writers in question personalized letters. 

‘Dear Mike,’ the letter read.

‘I wanted to thank you for your All-NBA vote this past season. 

‘I recognize the power and weight of the current system of All-NBA voting and the impact it has on players like me in the current NBA. I also recognize that it is not something any journalists like yourself signed up for.

‘Nonetheless, I know you took the time to consider all worthy candidates and appreciate your vote. 

‘Wishing you and your family all the best this upcoming off-season and thank you again. Best, Jaylen Brown.’

Brown was one of five players included in the All-NBA second team, with the Nuggets’ Jokic and the Warriors’ Curry also making it in.

Jimmy Butler of Miami Heat and Donovan Mitchell of the Cleveland Cavaliers made up the list.

The first team, meanwhile, consisted of Giannis Antetokounmpo (Milwaukee Bucks), Luka Doncic (Dallas Mavericks), Joel Embiid (Philadelphia 76ers), Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (Oklahoma City Thunder) and Brown’s Celtics teammate Jayson Tatum.

Tatum, who missed out on All-NBA honors in the 2020-21 season and therefore supermax status, will now be due for a $300m-plus payday when he negotiates his next extension.
